Retail tomato prices are ruling at Rs 80 per kg in most cities across India but the rates have shot up to as high as Rs 120 per kg in few southern states because of widespread rains, according to government data. In Chennai, retail price of tomato was at Rs 100 per kg, Puducherry Rs 90 per kg, Bengalure Rs 88 per kg and Hyderabad Rs 65 per kg.

Kerala HC issues notice to Centre on plea challenging PM’s photo on COVID-19 vaccination certificate

Kerala High Court on Tuesday issued a notice to the Central Government in a petition challenging the photograph of Prime Minister Narendra Modi being affixed on the COVID-19 vaccination certificates. The notice has been issued by the Single Bench of Justice N Nagaresh and the court will take up this matter again after the respondent files counter. The petition was filed by an RTI activist Peter Myaliparampil. The petition reads, “Petitioner had received the paid COVID-19 vaccination from a private hospital and thereafter received a vaccination certificate. The certificate had the Prime Minister’s colour photograph and the message: “medicine and strict controls (in Malayalam), together India will defeat COVID-19 (in English)” with attribution to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”

HC seeks Delhi govt’s stand on plea challenging opening of liquor shop near religious place, school

The Delhi High Court on Tuesday sought the stand of the Delhi government and others on a petition challenging the opening of the alcohol shop in the Jangpura area near religious places, a hospital and a school. Justice Yashwant Varma has asked the Delhi government and Commissioner (Excise, Entertainment and Luxury Tax) to take instruction on the petition and listed the matter for further hearing on December 3. The petitioners, who are the residents of Jangpura-A, said that they are aggrieved by the proposed illegal opening of a wine shop in their area. However, the petitioner informed the court that the liquor shop is not completely functional at present.
